| Denne påtreffes første gang i en odelssak i 1669 angående gården Lavold i Luster, til hvilken gård han var odelsberettiget. Senere, 20. mai 1675, opptrer han på sin fars vegne ved en besiktelsesforretning på en gård i Luster. Han omtales da som "hæderlige og vellærde unge Mand", hvorav synes å fremgå, at han har hatt teologisk utdannelse. Han ble 28. juni 1681 geistlig skifteskriver i Trondhjems stift og 20. august samme år tillike i Akershus stift. 3. november 1688 ble han utnevnt til viselagmann i Hedemarken og Oplandenes lagdømme.4 | ||
