Contract dated at Hamilton 9 August 1597. It is said that for some mysterious reason he raised an action of divorce against her, during the dependence of which she died. They are generally said to have no issue, but a letter by King James to the Marquess of Hamilton on 23 July 1601 refers to Lord Maxwell and his wife and son. The latter must have died young.
