He witnessed a marriage contract at Fyvie between William Meldrum of Fyvie and James Innes of that Ilk on behalf of their son and daughter 3 May 1481. The witnesses were George, Earl of Huntly, William, Earl of Erroll, Sir James Ogilvy of Deskford, Master Gilbert Hay of Ury, Master John Lyon, Walter Ogilvy of Auchlewyn, William Keith, son and apperent heir to Sir Gilbert Keith of Inverugie, and Alexander Mowat of Loschargy.7
He inherited half of the lands of Cultaloid and half of Dryne from his uncle William Clyne of that Ilk 13 June 1495.8
He had a sasine of Loscragy (Lostrago), Balquholly (Balquhally), and Quhelp in the county of Aberdeen in 1474.9
As Alexander Mowat, son and apparent heir of John Mowat of Loscragy, he witnessed an instrument of sasine from William Sinclair, Earl of Orkney, to his son William of the barony of Newburgh in 16 November 1459.10
14 January 1475-6 he witnessed an Instrument of Resignation by Sir Alexander Dunbar of Westfeld in hands of George, Earl of Huntlie, lord Gordone and Badzenocht, Royal Lieutenant, of his lands sometime held of John, Earl of Ross, and now of the Crown. Witnesses were Alexander Gordone of Westfield [?], William, thane of Caldor, Thomas Cumyng of Altyr, Alexander Cumyng of Earnside, Duncan Mckyntosche of Geddes, Alexander Mowat of Balquholy, and George Lesle of Whitehouse. Note that Alexander's father had 25 years earlier witnessed the original charter of Westfield to Alexander Dunbar.11
