Notes:This article of the family of Eberstein includes several errors. The first generations are wrong. For example, there seems to never have been any "Didrik" (Dietrich) in this family. And the Ottos are put in the wrong place of the family tree. Albert Andersen til Tovskov have been inserted into the family tree, although he (and his descendants) have later been proved to belong to the so called Stenbrikke family. There is also partly a mix with the Ebersteins of Schwaben, which are not at all related to this family. In fact, Eberstein is a misleading name. Everstein would be more correct as that is the name of which the county is known. Even Danmark Adels Aarbog says the name of this family was in the 13. and 14. centuries usually written Euerstein, so "Eberstein" must be a later misconstruct. The name was not used as a family name by its members.
