She was an ardent Presbyterian, and brought her children up as such. Mr. John Livingstone, in his autobiography, speaks of residing for some time during the course of his ministry in the house of Kilmarnock 'with worthy Lady Boyd,' and mentions her as one of the four ladies of rank from whom he got on several occasions supplies of money. Many of Rutherford's letters are addressed to her. She, who must have been born between 1588 and 1594, died 'very comfortably' at the house of her daughter, Lady Ardross, in the parish of Elie, and was buried 6 February 1646, the members of the Parliament which had been sitting at St. Andrews attending her funeral.18
