He was knighted before 1360 when he sealed the ruling contract (håndfæstning) of king Valdemar. In 1368 he joined the union of the counts of Holstein, Heinrich and Claus, against king Valdemar. He later rejoined Valdemar and in 1373 agreed to rebuild Agersborg. He sealed the ruling contract of king Olaf in 1377.13
