Personal Info
On 16 December 1605 he obtained from John Bisset of Quarrell a charter of Chirriemurelands, co. Stirling. He seems subsequently to have acquired Quarrell itself, as in another charter of 3 July 1610, in which he is designated 'of Quarrell'. He resigned these lands to Lord Elphinstone in 1619, and was afterwards known as 'of Barnes', a designation which he took from lands in the parish of Migvy, co. Aberdeen.11
