While heir-apparent he obtained, 25 January 1531, a remission from the King for being concerned with John, Master of Forbes, and others in 'the cruel slauchter of Alexander Seytoun of Meldrum' in Provost Menzies's house in Aberdeen, 31 January 1526-27, and also for his complicity in the siege of the castle of Kildrummy.4
