She became, when very young, the mistress of King James IV, by whom she was mother of Alexander Stewart, Archbishop of St. Andrews and Chamberlain of Scotland (born c. 1499), and of Catherine, wife of James (Douglas), third Earl of Morton. Her influence with the King assisted the Boyds in recovering their position.7
