Elly was very well educated and was before her marriage book keeper for Wilson's Packing Co. of Chicago. While the children were growing up, she was a den mother for Cob Scouts, president of the Woman's Guild of the Chicago Lutheran Theological Seminary that her son attended, and she was President of grammar and high school P. T. A.'s. Later she was a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, Mc Allen, Texas, where she had her permanent home. She also was a member of Karmak Court 17 - Ladies' Criental Shrine of North America.10
