He was ancestor of the Oliphants of Gask, and their cadets, the Oliphants of Orchardmill, Ure in Zetland, Tomperran and Soutartoun. He is claimed also as ancestor of the Oliphants of Condie, of whom Binzean (extinct), Rossie, and Kinneddar are cadets; and of whom was descended Laurence Oliphant, the celebrated traveller, novelist, and mystic.5
