He is mentioned in his mother's testament, was a substitute in the said charter of the barony and castle of Cathcart. Succeeding his brother John, he sold these lands to his eldest brother on 12 January 1550-51, and at the same time purchased from him the lands of Craigbait. On 26 June 1554 he found surety to underlie the law for receiving the sacrament while under excommunication.7
