A third son Donald is also ascribed to the marriage of David Sinclair of Broynach and Janet Ewing, and stated to be identical with a Captain Donald Sinclair, Sarclet, Caithness, who at his death in 1768, left issue. But no claim to the title was made in 1793, when the House of Lords decided in favour of Sir James Sinclair of Mey as twelfth Earl, nor has any been formally made by his descendants.3
