He was served heir of his father on 3. October 1695. The estate had been by this time heavily wadsetted, principally to James Mitchell of Girlesta. To Mitchell he was compelled bit by bit to dispone his estate, and on 1. March 1698, he seems to have finally parted with the whole.3
