He intromitted with the teinds of Coldingham 1630. On 10 June 1038, the town of Coldingham was of new erected into a burgh of barony in his favour, as he had a wadset over the lordship. He is said to have been 'a private gentleman in the Horse Guards, who commanded cavalry at Bothwell Brig 1079'.3
