He had a Charter, 12 August 1540, of the five merk land of Dalquhone in Ayrshire; and another, 12 March 1544, of the nine merk land of Bogton, Holmhead, and two third-parts of the mill of Cathcart in the shire of Renfrew which lands continued in the family at least till 1679, when part of them was sold to Hamilton of Aikenhead, ancestor of James Hamilton of Holmhead.6
