The contract was never completed; and in October 1567, in consequence of the delay, Sir Walter Ker, in the presence of a notary public and witnesses, was reminded of the contract by Thomas Scott of Haining, and asked if he meant to carry it out. He admitted the agreement, and promised to fulfil it; but this was not done, and the lady subsequently married John Carmichael of Meadowflat.
